ABSTRACT:
Diluents are usually comprehended as finely powdered “ inert’’ solid substances which can be mixed up with medicaments in order to bring up the weight of tablets to be compressed up to a certain minimal level. The diluents are essential additives in any tablet composition where quantity of the medicament is small. Ingredient in a medicinal preparation that lacks pharmacologic activity but is pharmaceutically necessary or desirable. In tablet or capsule dosage forms, this may be Sugars or Polysaccharides, Inorganic compounds; it is particularly useful in increasing the bulk of potent drug substances with a mass too small for dosage to allow manufacture or administration. May be a liquid for the dissolution of drug to be injected, ingested, or inhaled.
