ABSTRACT:
Coating is a process by which an essentially dry, outer layer of coating material is  applied to the surface of a dosage form in order to confer specific benefits that broadly range from facilitating product identification to modifying drug release from the dosage form. Here I reviewed the method of preparation, chemical name, chemical structure, applications, pharmacoepial specifications, stably studies of Sucrose- sugar coating, Povidone-film coating, Hydroxyl ethyl cellulose thallate-enteric coating. Film coating is most popular technique and virtually all new coated products introduced to the market are film coated film coating involves the deposition, usually by a  spraying method, of a thin film of a polymer formulation surrounding a tablet, capsule or multi particulate core. Sugar coating has long been the tradition method for coating pharmaceutical products. It involves the successive application of sucrose-based coating formulation to tablet cores in suitable coating equipment. conventional panning equipment with manual application of syrup has been extensively used, although more specialized equipment and automated methods are now making on the process. Enteric coating of pills and compressed tablets has existed fo more than a century. Pharmaceutical formulators have a wide choice of materials for use in developing an enteric coated granule, pellet, or tablet product. These materials range from water-resistant flims to pH-sentitive materials.
