In the last two decades, mucoadhesion has shown renewed interest for prolonging the residence time of mucoadhesive dosage forms through various mucosal routes in drug delivery applications. In the present exploration chlorzoxazone muco adhesive tablets were progressed through a sequence of stages in order to improve patient compliance and bioavailability. Chlorzoxazone is a skeletal muscle relaxant used to treat muscle spasm and pain and it is rapidly absorbed from GIT with half-life 1.1-2.8 hrs. Due to its less half-life and rapid absorption Chlorzoxazone produces gastrointestinal bleeding which is a major limitation for chlorzoxazone as immediate release dosage forms. So the ettle of the present research work was to develop and evaluate muco adhesive tablets of Chlorzoxazone using hydrophilic polymers like HPMC, Sodium alginate and Acacia in different ratios. Six formulations (CLR-1 to CLR-6) were formulated and evaluated for various physico chemical properties. Among all the formulations CLR-1 with HPMC and Sodium alginate emerged to be best one, because it exhibits the maximum percentage drug release of 97.8%. Drug release kinetics revealed that all the formulations  follow Korsemeyer peppas model as “best fit model” and  (n) values of all chlorzoxazone mucoadhesive tablets were found to be 0.60-1.0 which betoken anomolous non-fickian diffusion i.e., the rate of solvent penetration and drug release are in the same range.
